Quit Smoking

There is irrefutable evidence that smoking is bad for health, not just for the lungs but virtually all other organ systems. If you really want to quit, you're already halfway to becoming a non-smoker.

I use a three pronged approach employing proven successful strategies to give you the best chance of quitting the habit of smoking for ever. I use Hypnotherapy, Meridian Therapy (EFT) and Auricular Acupuncture, all successful on their own but used together are a very powerful tool. I will explore any possible underlying issues supporting your habit, attempts that you've made to quit in the past and why it did not work for you. I will teach you Meridian Therapy (EFT) so that you can keep up the pressure on your habit between sessions and afterwards. Meridian Therapy (EFT) is a simple psycho-energetic technique that can be used for all sorts of problems, not just habitual smoking.

2 or 3 sessions are all that is needed to turn most smokers into non smokers.

 

Weight Loss

Obesity, mild or severe, can be a complicated condition to deal with. Whether you are someone who has always had difficulty maintaining a "normal welght/size ratio" or whether extra kilos just "appeared from nowhere" hypnotherapy can help you.

Firstly we need to appreciate that there are a variety of body shapes, we can't all look like the models in glossy magazines. What we can do is be a healthy weight for our particular body shape and have a healthy mental and emotional relationship with our body.

The simple formula of energy taken in (food) minus energy expended (exercise) leading to an increase of weight or loss of weight is too simplistic. And to blame it all on your genes is not going to help. Some people have a stronger predisposition to putting on weight and those people have to work harder and more strategically to maintain optimum body weight ratios. Research indicates that the problem is multi-factorial so it stands to reason that the solution has also to be multi-factorial. What does this entail? Some or all of the following:-

Maximizing Confidence and Performance

In this competitive world there are so many pressures to "perform". Taking exams, excelling in sports, success in careers, social interactions plus many other life situations can all generate counter productive levels of stress. Stress is not just a feeling, there are detectable chemical changes within the body which are part of our survival mechanism. This process is great for running away from or fighting an aggressor but not much good for solving complex problems. Part of the stress process redirects blood supply to the big muscles in the body and away from the digestive tract and the brain. In fact the blood supply to the brain is selectively redirected away from cognitive function but maintained in the old brain, the area responsible for instinctual reaction and survival. In times of stress you literally, physically can't think properly.

Any activity that requires clarity of perception, focused attention, unity of purpose and dedicated effort also requires an internal calmness. I find that most humans, to a greater or lesser extent, have difficulty in using the most appropriate part of the brain for the situation they find themselves in. Many people use their intellect (frontal cortex) to analyse what they are feeling and use their emotions (amygdalla) to strategise and problem solve. I also find that most people have what I call unprocessed "Life Event Scripts" floating around in their consciousness which interfere with efficient processing of information. It is quite staggering the number of people who carry these active unprocessed "Life Event Scripts" from childhood. Often throw away remarks by adults such "don't be so stupid", "aren't you silly", "can't you do anything right" can go on affecting us negatively throughout life. When you fail to do something you are adequately trained to do, it is often because there is an unprocessed "Life Event Script" whispering that you are stupid, silly, can't do anything right, don't deserve what you are striving for.

Really successful people, the golfer Tiger Woods comes to mind, operate in what is called "the zone". The "zone" is a place where all parts of ones being, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual are perfectly in tune and 100% focused on the task at hand. It is essential to reprocess and absorb into our core program any stray "Life Event Scripts" to be able to function totally in the present, to be able to focus all our attention in the present. PsychoEnergetic techniques such as EFT, Hypnotherapy, Re-Emergence and others are efficient methods because they can get into the subconscious and reformat the core program.

Phobias, Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsivity

 

These sorts of life limiting syndromes are often due to a more severe expression of what I talked about in the previous discourse on confidence and performance. They may also be associated with genetic predisposition, challenging traumatic life experiences, nutritional imbalance and a host of other possibilities. I address every case on it's individual qualities and employ appropriate strategies to move clients on from from the state of being "stuck".

I favour using techniques that are rapid, effective, non confronting and even fun. Past traumas and negative thought patterns are unpleasant so why use "therapies" that endlessly trawl over those events, reliving the event over and over. It is now accepted that these techniques are not just confronting, they actually don't work very well either and if they are successful they take too long to get results.
